Sustainability

The recycled materials we use come from the waste fruit punnets of Belgian farmers. These are processed, dyed and made into reels of filament by our materials supplier: Reflow. The reels are used by our 3D printers to melt the plastic and reform it into our designs. This material is fully biodegradable PLA, it can be recycled again or hot composted to quickly return the corn-based plastic back to nature.

What is bioplastic?

This material is a sustainable and carbon-negative solution to our reliance on fossil fuels to provide plastics. Waste biomass from the production of corn, cassava or sugar is fermented into Lactic Acid. When condensed in the presence of a tin based catalyst, and the water removed, it forms a “plastic” known as PolyLactic Acid, or PLA. This process is also reversible which means that PLA can be recycled into virgin PLA indefinitely, and is the best method of disposal. PLA can also be industrially hot-composted.

Recycled

We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and not be part of the disposable consumerist society. We make sure that all of our printing and packaging materials are recycled, and where we do have to use other materials for safety reasons we design our products so that they are easily separated when they reach the end of their life. We are also happy to offer replacement parts for anything that stops working or breaks, so you can be secure in the knowledge that our products will last you a lifetime.

Biodegradable

All of our printing and packaging materials are biodegradable, whether by normal or hot-composting processes. Our printing materials are sourced only from one trusted supplier that guarantees their biodegradability. All of our boxes, labels and tapes are plastic free and made from recycled, bleach-free sources .
